Video: Grateful Dead – Chateau d'HerouvilIe 1971

We were there with nothing to do: France, a 16-track recording studio upstairs, all our gear, ready to play, and nothing to do. So, we decided to play at the chateau itself, out in the back, in the grass, with a swimming pool, just play into the hills. We didn’t even play to hippies, we played to a handful of townspeople in Auvers. We played and the people came — the chief of police, the fire department, just everybody. It was an event and everybody just had a hell of a time — got drunk, fell in the pool. It was great.

A compiled video from the Grateful Dead‘s 1971 performance at Chateau d’Herouville has made it’s way from the depths of the internet up onto Youtube.  A location made famous by recordings from Pink Floyd, Elton John, and the MC5 among others. A classic from the Pigpen era, so you know I’m excited to share this.

PG: I think ultimately, we talked about the morality of the show a lot while we were working on it, and to me, the actions he has taken are beyond redemption, so there might be some enlightening or understanding that he has, but I would distinguish between self-understanding and any kind of redemption.

TS: The pizza on the roof was unforgivable

Radio Free L.A.

Listen to Zach De La Rocha, Tom Morello, Flea, Stephen Perkins performing Rage Against the Machine songs on this 1997 “Radio Free L.A.” broadcast

Today seems as good as any to share this recording, originally broadcast in January 1997. Rage Against the Machine‘s Zach De La Rocha and Tom Morello partner with 1997 Jane’s Addiction touring members Stephen Perkins and Flea, playing a lot of early material as well as some interesting arrangements of tracks that ended up on Evil Empire.

Trevino – 3 and 1 EP (3024-022)

Rather than bore with you my affinity for adjectives, and fill up this website’s beautiful negative space with my rambling, I prefer to let the music speak for itself and encourage you to listen to the stream below, courtesy of the 3024 Soundcloud

After a brief respite from talking about music as regularly as in the past, a combo-breaker here as we take a look at 3024‘s latest effort. Marcus Intalex adds to the impressive list of releases under his Trevino project with this 3 track selection for Martyn‘s label. A safe assumption that the title of the release points to the 3 regular tracks +1 exclusive for digital purchasers of the release, Trevino showing real growth in the realm of acid influenced house since dabbling with the idea on earlier Revolv:r releases such as Debbit. (still a personal favorite of mine)

Like it? Me too, you should download 3 and 1 EP on iTunes / Surus if you’d rather pick up the FLAC downloads or the vinyl copy.
