A Quick One (While I'm Away)

I am still alive, and so is this site – my apologies for being slow to update; I started a new job two weeks ago today, and in case that wasn’t enough to deal with at the moment I am also moving residences this weekend and early next week.

I am still alive, and so is this site – my apologies for being slow to update; I started a new job two weeks ago today, and in case that wasn’t enough to deal with at the moment I am also moving residences this weekend and early next week.

This means that over the next month:

  • The Podcast Returneth
  • More Music Reviews
  • More Miscellany
  • More food posts since I can afford to dine out all the time again
  • If you have sent promos I will listen, my apologies for the delays – please don’t think I’m ignoring them!

As many of you know this site is my hobby and as much I’d love to make it priority #1 in my life, that’s unfortunately not a practical option at the moment. Thanks for your continued support/patronage/linking everybody. Back to full capacity soon!

Wheez-ie Wish You A Merry Christmas

To get you hype for the holiday season, fast-rising artist Wheez-ie is giving away two free tunes.

To get you hype for the holiday season, fast-rising artist Wheez-ie is giving away two free tunes. The Houston-bred, Boston-based artist has been covered on icnt.mx previously, most notably highlighting Wheez-ie’s Embassy Recordings EP, and podcast for Hot Mom USA.

The accolades are not limited to our site; today’s free release has caught the attention of Fact Magazine, and additionally helped cement Wheez-ie’s place in Trouble & Bass’ best of 2012.

Atlanta readers, mark your calendar for this Saturday the 22nd, when Wheez-ie brings his DJ prowess back to Graveyard Tavern in East Atlanta Village. Click here for more info on Saturday’s show featuring support from myself and E-Walk.

shrtstck – Art of Beatz Mix

Art of Beatz RadioA special mix I compiled for Art of Beatz radio, hosted by Kuma of The Konspiracy Group. This mix aired live on their weekly radio show, broadcasted on Vancouver’s COOP Radio 102.7FM. As the show airs at 3AM Atlanta time, I imagine many east-coasters missed this when it debuted however, the archive is now available for streaming and download. Something a bit different, keeping things around 160-bpm for the entirety of this mix, forgoing the usual sub-140 sounds I’ve been favoring lately.

On Artists and Criticism (Part 3)

As it becomes easier to connect to artists through Facebook, Twitter, and other methods of communication we sometimes see that we as people are slow to fully understand the consequences of conveniences. We now live in a world where everybody is entitled to their opinions, I’d go so far to say as you’d be considered intolerant for suggesting otherwise. I am not going to pretend that everybody’s opinions on all topics should be weighed equally but their right to say what they think shouldn’t be challenged.

Artists, we have tackled the issue of criticism here before, speaking about artistic distance and as well as haters and objectivity. If you are an artist who puts their work out for public consumption, do not expect everybody to appreciate everything you do. Be skeptical of those who do not think you are capable of making mistakes, including yourself. You are not going to please everybody with everything you do, and honestly, you should question the motives behind your creativity if you are working to create something that everybody will always love.

TFB Profiles Distal

Atlanta-based dubstep label and blog The Freak Beat speaks with Distal about his upcoming Civilization LP on Tectonic Recordings, as well as his own Embassy Recordings label and more.

New Earth Music HallFilmed following his performance at New Earth Music Hall the other week, The Freak Beat interviews Distal about his upcoming album Civilization.

Keep a look for a short cameo by yours truly during the obligatory brostep section of the interview, clearly a surprising time for me to voice an opinion.

In appreciation for recent support of icnt.mx, I am offering a free download of my two hour live mix opening for Borgore in Atlanta, Nov 2010.
