In the meantime, check the preview from Distal’s Soundcloud

Clicks & Whistles b2b Shortstack for the June 17, 2012 broadcast of Embassy Recordings’ “Late Nite Tip” radio show on Sub.FM
A very special episode of Late Nite Tip this weekend as I was joined by Petey from Clicks & Whistles following our interesting weekend at the first Impulse Music and Arts Festival in Union Point, GA. More on that weekend in another post soon to follow.
In the absence of Distal and Mite this week, Petey and I went b2b for the full two hours, getting a bit different than we usually do. Thanks to everybody who locked in during the broadcast – and a huge thanks to Petey for grinding through after a month of touring to cap it off with an appearance on Late Nite Tip!

Atlanta-based dubstep label and blog The Freak Beat speaks with Distal about his upcoming Civilization LP on Tectonic Recordings, as well as his own Embassy Recordings label and more.
Filmed following his performance at New Earth Music Hall the other week, The Freak Beat interviews Distal about his upcoming album Civilization.
Keep a look for a short cameo by yours truly during the obligatory brostep section of the interview, clearly a surprising time for me to voice an opinion.

In appreciation for recent support of icnt.mx, I am offering a free download of my two hour live mix opening for Borgore in Atlanta, Nov 2010.
First things first, I would like to extend my sincerest gratitude to readers of this site old and new. It has been an interesting year for me both on and off this site.
During the beginning of the year I was unable to focus full attention to the site, however I cannot thank people enough for allowing to essentially ‘pick up where we left off‘ and continuing to support the site as things has smoothed out a bit recently.
Continue beneath the fold for more gratitude, looking forward for the site, and an exclusive live dj mix of mine for you to download or stream.

Civilization transcends what most expect from the legendary Tectonic label, with tracks that exploring a wide palette of styles, not simply BPM, and the unmistakable aesthetic of a Distal production.
Distal‘s first full-length release Civilization will finally ship on the highly esteemed Tectonic Recordings label on April 30.
After my first few listens, quite simply, Civilization is a breath of fresh-air to Tectonic. Distal will be the first to cite Pinch‘s influence in his own work, however Civilization transcends what most expect from the legendary label. Tracks exploring a wide palette of styles, not simply BPM, with the unmistakable aesthetic of a Distal production. More importantly the tracks and their arrangement do feel cohesive, a craft that seems to elude many full length releases in the current wave of electronic music.

A comprehensive look at Brooklyn-based jazz trio Archie Pelago, highlighting currently available releases, interviews, and freely downloadable or streaming videos and mixes
To get you ready for the Archie Pelago mix on Mary Anne Hobbs’ XFM broadcast Saturday April 7, let’s make sure you know what’s good.
Archie Pelago, a three-man outfit from Brooklyn, combines classically influenced cello, saxophone, and trumpet with contemporary music and modern technology for a sound that reaches beyond other electronic / instrumental collaborations in recent memory.
Lately, too many performers treat Ableton Live as DJ software, not leveraging the software’s potential to reshape music during performance, a realization not lost on Archie Pelago.

Big album dropping next month from a very exciting up and coming USA artist called Distal. ‘Civilization’ drops heavy at the end of April. The LP transcends the boundaries of dubstep, techno, juke, ghetto tech and laces it all with a gritty warehouse vibe. It really sounds like nothing else I’ve ever heard and I love it all the more for that… Keep your eyes peeled for that and some more bone crunching sub heavy rhythms on 12″ too…
In addition to the words, a podcast for stream and download including ‘Amphibian,’ a selection from the aforementioned Distal release.
